Seven products at risk of Trump tariffs; Thailand relies on the US for 21% of its exports in this grouping (Current Issue No.3566)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
  • President Trump has proposed higher tariffs on steel, aluminum, automobiles, semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, processed wood, and copper imported from various trading partners to boost US domestic production, in addition to the phased introduction of reciprocal tariffs.
  • For Thailand, the US plays a significant role as an export market for these seven product categories, accounting for more than one-fifth of Thailand’s global exports in this grouping on average. This is less than Vietnam’s share but more than those of Malaysia and Indonesia.
  • Among these seven product categories, Thailand’s shipments of semiconductors (electronic equipment) are particularly dependent on the US, accounting for around 34 percent of its global electronic equipment exports.
