China’s PPI has contracted for three consecutive years, with deflation risks potentially continuing to pressure the country’s economy (Business Brief No.4202 Full Ed.)

  • China’s Producer Price Index (PPI) in September 2025 contracted for the 36th consecutive month at (-)2.3 percent YoY, representing a slower contraction than (-)2.9 percent YoY in August 2025. Meanwhile, China’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) shrank for the second consecutive month at (-)0.3 percent YoY. 
  • KResearch expects deflation to continue to pressure the Chinese economy in the future, even though the authorities have gradually rolled out policies to address excess production capacity. Meanwhile, large-scale economic stimulus measures targeting consumption are not projected to materialize yet.
