FOMC meeting, October 28-29: Fed expected to cut policy rate by 0.25% following lower-than-expected US inflation in September (Business Brief No.4206 Full Ed.)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
  • At the FOMC meeting slated for October 28–29, 2025, the US Federal Reserve (Fed) is expected to cut its policy rate by 0.25 percent to 3.75–4.00 percent. The outlook is based on the fact that September inflation figures came in lower than expected, amid growing concerns over a weakening labor market and increasing downside risks to the US economy.
  • However, the Fed is unlikely to halt its Quantitative Tightening (QT) program at this meeting, as it would prefer to avoid ending QT prematurely. Doing so could risk fueling asset bubbles and hinder progress in controlling inflation if liquidity flows back into risk assets.
  • KResearch anticipates that at the final FOMC meeting of 2025 in December, the Fed is likely to reduce the policy rate by another 0.25 percent, in line with the latest Dot Plot projections. In 2026, the Fed may lower rates more than previously signaled, with 2–3 cuts possible, as the US economy is expected to experience a notable slowdown.
