PM2.5 pollution in Bangkok expected to cause economic losses of no less than THB 3 billion (Current Issue No.3551)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
  • Unsafe levels of PM2.5 particles are presently blanketing the Bangkok metropolitan area, posing significant health risks and disrupting daily life for residents. These unsafe levels are reflected by the Air Quality Index (AQI), which has averaged above 100 micrograms per cubic meter for more than a week (January 18–26, 2025). As a result, some people have had to adjust their activities to minimize its effects on their health.
  • KResearch estimates that the economic impact, particularly in terms of opportunity cost, especially regarding the health of Bangkok residents over a period of about one month, will amount to no less than THB 3 billion. If other economic activities are factored in, such as avoidance of outdoor activities, work from home, school closures, and tourism, as well as impacts in other areas, the opportunity cost will be even higher.
