  • At the FOMC meeting on December 9-10, 2025, the Fed voted 9-3 to lower its policy rate by 0.25 percent to 3.50-3.75 percent, aligning with KResearch’s prior projection. In addition, the Fed will resume purchasing government bonds to enhance liquidity in financial markets and the US economy.
  • Fed committee members’ views have become more divided, reflecting heightened uncertainty regarding the direction of monetary policy in 2026. Nine members supported a 0.25-percent policy rate cut, while two votes opposed any rate reduction, and one vote proposed lowering the rate by 0.50 percent.
  • KResearch expects the Fed to gradually cut its interest rates 2-3 more times in 2026, exceeding the Fed’s median projection of only one reduction and aligning with market expectations of about two cuts next year. KResearch maintains its view that the US economy in 2026 is likely to expand at a slower rate than this year.
