Loans in the Thai banking system projected to grow at a slower rate of 0.6% as the Thai economy is set to expand at a limited range

KResearch expects that both business loans and retail loans may contract in 2024. As a result, loans in the Thai banking system may shrink by approximately 1.8 percent as of the end of 2024, marking the first decline since 2010.
For 2025, loan growth in the Thai banking system is expected to remain slow at about 0.6 percent in line with numerous risks plaguing the recovery of the Thai economy.
Growth in business loans may recover by 1.5 percent in 2025, supported by improved private and public investments, compared to 2024. However, retail loans may continue to contract due to the slow recovery in household income amid existing debt burdens, which hinder the ability to take on new debt.
