Nuclear energy may not be an option for Thailand at present due to the high cost and surplus power generation capacity

คะแนนเฉลี่ย

Thailand’s power generation capacity exceeded demand by 34% in 2022, with a total capacity of 49,099MW, higher than the peak demand of 32,250 MW. KResearch holds the view that if only the issues of cost and alternative energy are considered, nuclear power is not suitable for deployment in Thailand at present. This is because its cost is 2-3 times greater than that of renewable energy, and the country already has excess power generation of over 34%.
