The Baht rose while the SET closed above 1,600 points

•    The Thai stock market rose almost throughout the week amid foreign investor purchases.
        The SET Index surged from the beginning of the week, supported by foreign investor purchases, led by stocks included in the SET50 index calculation for the second half of 2026, particularly a major electronic component manufacturer. The Thai stock market continued to extend its gains despite ongoing uncertainty in the Middle East, following reports of fresh attacks related to commercial vessels being targeted in the Strait of Hormuz.
 
        The Baht rose while the SET closed above 1,600 pointsHowever, the SET Index briefly retreated around the middle of the week before resuming its upward trend for the remainder of the week. By the end of the week, it reached a 3-year and 4-month high of 1,621.19 points. Buying interest was broad-based across several sectors, led by banking stocks which saw speculative buying ahead of the announcement of 2Q-2026 earnings results. In addition, the rise in the SET Index towards the end of the week was in line with other regional bourses, as US non-farm payroll figures for June came in below expectations, supporting expectations that the Fed may not rush to raise interest rates.
•    On Friday, July 3, 2026, the SET closed at 1,611.28 points, up 4.47 percent over-week. The average daily trading value was THB80,182.25 million, up 2.33 percent over-week. The mai closed at 221.11 points, up 0.38 percent over-week.
•    During July 6-10, 2026, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,585 and 1,570 points, but resistance at 1,625 and 1,645 points, respectively. KResearch advises investors to watch key factors, including Thailand’s June CPI, developments in the Middle East, and foreign capital flows. US economic data that warrants close monitoring includes June Services ISM/PMI, Existing Home Sales, FOMC minutes, plus weekly jobless claims. Other important overseas economic indicators to monitor include Eurozone’s May PPI and Retail Sales, China’s June CPI and PPI and Japan’s June PPI.
