  • The Thai stock market closed near last week's level amid selling pressure from foreign investors.

The SET Index rose early to midweek, supported by expectations that the Fed would keep its policy rate unchanged at its October meeting, following weaker-than-expected September nonfarm payroll data. Additional support came from easing flood conditions in Bangkok and its vicinity, buying interest in electronic component stocks in line with gains in overseas technology stocks, and purchases of petrochemical and refinery stocks, which benefited from lower global oil prices and news regarding the establishment of a petrochemical joint venture.

The SET Index subsequently fell in line with international bourses amid foreign investor selling, as tensions in the Middle East remained elevated following reports that the US was preparing for massive attacks against Iran. This triggered selling across all sectors. In addition, reports that Thai authorities were considering imposing a tax on outbound international travel added further pressure on tourism-related stocks. However, President Donald Trump later stated that the US would not attack Iran for the time being, easing market concerns and helping the Thai stock market rebound toward the end of the week.
  • On Friday, October 9, 2026, the SET closed at 1,577.65 points, up 0.38 percent over-week. The average daily trading value was THB62,654.45 million, down 21.36 percent over-week. The mai closed at 222.23 points, up 0.30 percent over-week.
  • During October 12-16, 2026, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,550 and 1,525 points, but resistance at 1,590 and 1,615 points, respectively.
