  • The Thai stock market continued to close higher from the previous week, although its gains gradually narrowed from midweek onwards.

The SET Index surged early in the week, climbing back above 1,600-point level once again amid foreign buying. Gains were led by stocks of a major electronics component manufacturer benefiting from AI and data center investment trends, as well as energy stocks buoyed by rising global oil prices.

However, the SET Index began to trim its gains from midweek onwards, pressured by concerns over the possibility of a Fed rate hike, as well as selling pressure in banking stocks that gradually went ex-dividend (XD). Market sentiment was also dampened by concerns over escalating tensions in the Middle East, fueled by reports of ongoing retaliatory attacks between the US and Iran, and signals from the US President that the conflict could drag on until after the US midterm elections. The SET Index fell sharply towards the end of the week in line with other regional bourses, amid broad-based selling pressure across all sectors. In addition, the market closely monitored the upcoming US Consumer Price Index (CPI) data for August.
  • On Friday, September 11, 2026, the SET closed at 1,604.52 points, up 0.56 percent over-week. The average daily trading value was THB69,736.57 million, up 2.37 percent over-week. The mai closed at 227.36 points, up 0.61 percent over-week.
  • During September 14-18, 2026, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,590 and 1,570 points, but resistance at 1,620 and 1,630 points, respectively. KResearch advises investors to watch key factors, including the FOMC meeting (September 15-16), developments in the Middle East, and foreign capital flows. US economic data that warrants close monitoring includes August Retail Sales, Housing Starts and Industrial Production, plus weekly jobless claims. Other important overseas economic indicators to monitor include the upcoming BOE and BOJ meetings, Eurozone's and Japan's August CPI, plus China's August economic data such as New Yuan Loans, Industrial Production and Fixed Asset Investment.
