• The Thai stock market dropped amid foreign investors’ sell-offs.
The SET Index fell from the first trading day after the domestic market holiday, driven mainly by sell-offs of foreign investors. Leading the decline were stocks of a major electronics component manufacturer (as it triggered Level 1 of Market Surveillance Measures: Excluded from Credit Limit and Cash Balance), bank stocks (ahead of the gradual release of 1Q-2026 performance results), and energy stocks (following a pullback in global oil prices). In addition, the prolonged tensions in the Middle East also weighed on the SET Index. Peace talks between the US and Iran held on April 11–12, 2026 ended with no concrete results, and no definite date has been set for the next round of negotiations.
Although there were reports that Israel and Lebanon had reached a 10-day ceasefire agreement late in the week, investors remained cautious and continued to closely monitor the developments in the Middle East.
• On Friday, April 17, 2025, the SET closed at 1,482.45 points, down 1.62 percent over-week. The average daily trading value was THB69,340.13 million, up 26.47 percent over-week. The mai closed at 216.85 points, up 0.39 percent over-week.
• During April 20-24, 2026, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,470 and 1,450 points, but resistance at 1,495 and 1,510 points, respectively. KResearch advises investors to watch key factors, including 1Q-2026 performance results of Thailand’s listed companies, especially those in the banking sector, Thailand’s March Exports, developments in the Middle East, and foreign capital flows. US economic data that warrants close monitoring includes March Retail Sales, April Manufacturing and Services PMI (Flash), plus weekly jobless claims. Other important overseas economic indicators to monitor include China’s April LPR, April Manufacturing and Services PMI (Flash) of Eurozone, UK and Japan, plus March CPI of UK and Japan.
