  • The Thai stock market closed lower, despite a partial recovery towards the end of the week.

The SET Index declined sharply from early to mid-week amid heavy selling pressure in technology stocks, led by a major electronic components manufacturer due to concerns over the issuance of exchangeable bonds by its parent company, and a leading telecommunications company following concerns over a data breach after reports that one of its subsidiaries had been hacked. The sell-off in Thai technology stocks was also in line with the weakness seen in technology shares across global markets.

In addition, the SET Index faced further pressure from concerns over rising tensions in the Middle East after reports that the Houthis had launched attacks on Saudi Arabia, potentially disrupting oil exports.

However, the SET Index partially rebounded during the remainder of the week after the outcome of the FOMC meeting matched market expectations. Meanwhile, the Fed's Dot Plot indicated that there remains a possibility of one additional rate hike before year-end, providing greater clarity on the direction of US interest rates. Market sentiment was also supported by reports regarding an extension of domestic consumption stimulus measures.
  • On Friday, September 18, 2026, the SET closed at 1,584.15 points, down 1.27 percent over-week. The average daily trading value was THB69,427.41 million, down 0.44 percent over-week. The mai closed at 223.77 points, down 1.58 percent over-week.
  • During September 21-25, 2026, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,560 and 1,545 points, but resistance at 1,595 and 1,610 points, respectively. KResearch advises investors to watch key factors, including Fed officials' remarks, Thailand's August Exports, developments in the Middle East, and foreign capital flows. US economic data that warrants close monitoring includes September Manufacturing and Services PMI (Flash), August New Home Sales and Durable Goods Orders, plus weekly jobless claims. Other important overseas economic indicators to monitor include China's September LPR, plus September Manufacturing and Services (Flash) of Eurozone, UK and Japan.
