The Thai stock rose over 1,600 points. The SET surged early in the week on institutional and foreign investors’ purchases, supported by Thailand’s better-than-expected 1Q-2022 GDP growth and  news of China’s plans to ease stringent lockdown measures. the Thai bourse then dropped briefly in line with other stock markets on fears over the Fed’s rate hikes before rising again at the end of the week, thanks to  further easing of COVID-19 restrictions at home.
The rebound seen in the Thai stock market this week was mainly driven by energy (boosted by global oil prices), finance and real estate stocks.
On Friday, May 20, 2022, the SET closed at 1,622.95 points, up 2.43% over-week. The average daily trading value was THB71,995.00 million, down 11.04% over-week. The mai closed at 625.66 points, up 3.94% over-week.
