The SET soared early in the week in line with
other stock markets, supported by hopes for US stimulus measures and the global
economic recovery, plus share purchases in many sectors, especially energy.
Later, the SET moved within a tight range and began to drop around mid-week,
due mainly to concerns over domestic political issues and sell-offs by domestic
institutional and foreign investors, especially banking, financial and energy
shares.
