Bangkok Residents to Celebrate New Year in City, Spending THB19 Billion (Current Issue No. 2274)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
Based on a survey conducted by KResearch on the expected behavior of Bangkok residents toward celebrating New Year 2012, undertaken December 6-14, 2011, using a sampling group of 548 persons aged 15-65, it was found that the majority of the respondents had already arranged activities for the New Year holiday. However, they stated that they would have to be more careful in their spending this time around, due to the higher living costs and impacts of the recent flooding. Therefore, KResearch expects that Bangkok residents may only spend about THB19 billion during the 2012 New Year holiday, up 3 percent YoY.
The survey also found that a majority of Bangkok residents were opting to spend their holiday in the capital this time. Activities most cited by respondents included merit-making, parties in Bangkok, plus other leisure activities at home, instead of day-trips or returning home upcountry.

Based on the poll, it was found that Bangkok residents are unlikely to be extravagant toward New Year gifts as prices are quite high, right now, plus they have to save extra to fund repairs on their homes damaged by the flooding. However, those who are planning to purchase presents for friends and family have placed a priority on useful gifts, as well as gift quality and pricing.
