Service Industries : Transport and Logistics

คะแนนเฉลี่ย

Overview
- The transport and logistics industry consists of providers of overland, sea, and air cargo transport, whether by a single type, or mode, or by multiple types, or multimodal transport, including logistics solution providers.
 Transport is one part of the logistics linking management of raw materials, production, transport, warehousing, and distribution of goods. Some operators can handle the whole process of logistics themselves. In many cases, operators outsource part or all of their supply chain management functions to a third-party company which typically specialize in integrated operation, which is called a third-party logistics provider (3PL). This is due to the fact that goods transportation and distribution is not their main line of business and it may not be worthwhile to handle the task themselves.

- Domestic cargo transport has been primarily made by road which offers fast and convenient distribution of goods to consumers due to nationwide road coverage. Road transport is typically more expensive than rail or water transport. So far, infrastructure of rail transport in Thailand has seen little development. International cargo transport, meanwhile, has been primarily by sea which is less expensive than other modes of transportation though it is more time-consuming. Air transport is second-most popular for international shipments. As it has a high per unit price, goods shipped by air are mostly valuables, perishables, or other kinds that require safe and speedy delivery. They are, for instance, electronics components, vegetables and fruits, etc.
