Overview
- Ministry of Interior provincial administration statistics show an average of 333 thousand marriages registered annually in the ten years from 1998 to 2007. The Wedding Business Association of Thailand estimates that 100 to 115 thousand of these, 30 to 35 percent, utilized wedding related business services.
- In the past, wedding supplies had to be purchased at a variety of different locations, such as Phahurat, Sampheng and Bang Lamphu. Even though more and more wedding supplies and services are now distributed at such central locations as Chatuchak Market and Siam Square, economic and social changes have led couples to seek greater convenience in making wedding preparations. Full-service wedding businesses have appeared in response, supplying everything from a wide selection of studio photography, mementoes, cards, and wedding dresses, etc. Many of them have transformed into wedding advisory businesses that play greater role than merely supplying wedding products and services as they become organizers that arrange wedding structure or theme in order to make couples' wish comes true.
- A wedding opens multiple channels for business, for example wedding party, catering, hotels and resorts, wedding studios, beauty shops, and wedding planners. Wedding businesses related to necessities include wedding dresses and suits, religious items, catering, cards, mementoes, jewelry and accessories, limousines, etc. These businesses are aimed to match demand of the new generation customers.
