Overview

  • The Bank of Thailand classifies bank loans into 18 categories by type of business, from the manufacturing sector, public utilities and agriculture, to household consumer loans. Data on these is an important driver of the quarterly report.

  • March-2009 data on loans by business type indicate that the three categories with the largest share of loans were personal consumer loans, with the highest share at 22.7 percent, manufacturing sector loans at 21 percent, and financial intermediary loans at 19.6 percent.
