Eurozone & Japanese Economies Shrinking, May Affect Thai Exports (Business Brief No.2254)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
Thai exports in 1H08 recorded upbeat growth of 24.7 percent Y-o-Y. However, the latest 2Q08 GDP data released on Japan and several Eurozone countries has shown contractions that may point to greater challenges for our exports, going forward.

KASIKORN RESEARCH CENTER (KResearch) forecasts that supporting factors helping Thai exports may falter with economic slowdowns in major trade partner countries, as well as due to corrections in global commodity prices. Amid the economic sluggishness seen with Thailand's key trade partners coupled with a dim outlook for farm exports during 2H08, KResearch projects that Thai exports may grow at a decelerating pace of 10-15 percent in 2H08 against the hefty growth of 24.7 percent in 1H08, with the full-year growth in a range of 17-19 percent, versus the 17.3 percent achieved in 2007.
