Orange Prices: The ‘Lucky Fruit’ May Rise 14-17% during Chinese New Year (Business Brief No.2750)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
KASIKORN RESEARCH CENTER (KResearch) predicts that the prices of oranges during this Chinese New Year festival will gradually rise more than usual by around THB5-10 per kilogram, increasing 14-17 percent. These prices will be higher than those last year by around THB5-10 per kilogram, as current prices in the market are around THB40-70 per kilogram already.
This would likely be due to the improved economy being felt during the Chinese New Year this year compared to the sluggish economy last year. Therefore, it is expected that rising consumer purchasing power this year will boost spending and induce merchants to raise orange prices over last year's levels.

However, KResearch believes that there is an important variable that will likely keep orange prices moderate during the festival; this would be the large volume of oranges being imported from China, which should pressure domestic prices and limit excessive pricing.
