Active Mobile Entertainment Market boosted by Growing Sales of Smartphone (Business Brief No.2949)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
Mobile entertainment services are growing continuously, thanks to satisfactory smartphone sales and increased demand for digital content. Mobile music service is currently the major source of income for mobile phone service providers. KResearch expects that mobile music service may grow 23.8-26.2 percent in 2010, which would be equivalent to market turnover of around THB5.096-5.193 billion.
In mobile game business, Thai users prefer downloading games and playing offline due to limitations in speed with 2.5G service. KResearch therefore expects that the mobile game market in 2010 will grow by 22.3-27.0 percent, likely reaching a market value of around THB294-305 million, which would be in line with smartphone market expansion.
On the part of mobile TV and video services, users who send large files may face some constraints due to data transmission speeds and network quality. KResearch views that 2.5G service constraints and relatively high costs (especially given current service quality) have reduced the popularity of such services. If 3G service becomes available at reasonable cost, the sales of mobile TV and video services may increase.
For mobile image service, 2.5 GHz data transmission quality is acceptable, because the sizes of files are generally smaller. Some consumers create their own files or download them free of charge, so graphic design companies and mobile image service providers should develop and diversify their graphic works to respond to market demand.

Based on the above factors, KResearch expects that the mobile entertainment market will generate market turnover of THB6 billion and may increase further if 3G service is officially launched.
