  • The Thai stock market fluctuated but managed to close higher towards the end of the week.

The SET Index rose briefly early in the week, supported by buying interest in banking and technology stocks, before falling sharply through mid-week in line with international bourses. The decline was pressured by negative external factors, including the possibility of a US interest rate hike after the Fed Chair signaled concerns over US inflation, as well as escalating tensions in the Middle East following reports of a new round of attacks between the US and Iran. These developments triggered broad-based selling pressure across multiple sectors, led by finance, electronic components manufacturers, and transportation sectors.

However, the SET Index later fluctuated within a narrow range before rebounding towards the end of the week. The recovery was supported by comments of a Fed Governor suggesting that the Fed should keep interest rates unchanged at its upcoming meeting, which helped ease some concerns over the direction of US interest rates and prompted buying interest across several sectors.
  • On Friday, September 4, 2026, the SET closed at 1,595.58 points, up 0.46 percent over-week. The average daily trading value was THB68,124.10 million, up 5.11 percent over-week. The mai closed at 225.98 points, down 1.34 percent over-week.
  • During September 7-11, 2026, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,570 and 1,550 points, but resistance at 1,605 and 1,630 points, respectively. KResearch advises investors to watch key factors, including Thailand's August CPI, developments in the Middle East, and foreign capital flows. US economic data that warrants close monitoring includes August CPI, PPI and Existing Home Sales, plus weekly jobless claims. Other important overseas economic indicators to monitor include the upcoming ECB meeting, Eurozone's and Japan's GDP report for 2Q-2026, plus China's August CPI and PPI.
