The Baht strengthened while the SET edged up slightly from the previous week

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
•    The Thai stock market closed above 1,500 points, although it pared gains somewhat towards the end of the week.
The SET Index moved within a narrow range early in the week before surging beyond 1,500 points around midweek, driven mainly by purchases from proprietary trading accounts, in line with other international bourses. This came as investors partially eased concerns over tensions in the Middle East after reports that the US suspended Project Freedom, a military operation to guide ships through the Strait of Hormuz, in order to assess whether a peace agreement with Iran could be reached. This positive development stimulated buying across all sectors, led by energy and technology sectors.
However, the SET Index pared some gains during the remainder of the week, facing pressure from profit-taking in individual stocks, led by banking and technology sectors. In addition, investor concerns over the Middle East situation resurfaced following reports that US and Iran exchanged fire near the Strait of Hormuz.

•    On Friday, May 8, 2025, the SET closed at 1,500.36 points, up 0.45 percent over-week. The average daily trading value was THB75,309.21 million, up 33.71 percent over-week. The mai closed at 214.08 points, down 0.23 percent over-week.
•    During May 11-15, 2026, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,470 and 1,435 points, but resistance at 1,525 and 1,555 points, respectively. KResearch advises investors to watch key factors, including the meeting between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping (May 14-15), 1Q-2026 performance results of Thailand’s listed companies, developments in the Middle East, and foreign capital flows. US economic data that warrants close monitoring includes April Existing Home Sales, CPI, PPI, Retail Sales and Industrial Production plus weekly jobless claims. Other important overseas economic indicators to monitor include China’s April CPI and PPI, plus GDP report for 1Q-2026 of Eurozone and UK.
