The Baht pared losses while the SET hit its highest level in more than a year at the end of the week

คะแนนเฉลี่ย

•    The SET rose throughout the week amid institutional investors’ continued purchases.
The Thai stock market rose from the beginning of the week amid institutional investors’ continued purchases, mainly driven by hopes towards investment funds of the Vayupak Fund. Such positive factor helped boost the purchases of various stocks. In addition, the Thai stock market and other regional stock markets were boosted by the expectations of Fed rate cut.
The SET continued to rise until the end of the week, supported by the purchases of banking stocks and those of a major electronic component manufacturer before the release of 3Q-2024 performance results. The SET hit its highest level in more than a year (since early October 2023) at 1,482.02 points before paring gains somewhat as investors held off on trading before a long holiday. Nonetheless, foreign investors continued to sell Thai stocks for 13 consecutive trading days (from September 25 – October 11).
•    On Friday, October 11, 2024, the SET closed at 1,470.10 points, up 1.79% over-week. The average daily trading value was THB52,844.60 million, down 7.28% over-week. The mai closed at 343.00 points, down 0.16% over-week.
•    October 14-18, 2024, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,455 and 1,445 points, but resistance at 1,475 and 1,495 points, respectively. KResearch views that key factors to watch include the BOT’s MPC meeting (October 16),  remarks of Fed officials, Thai listed companies’ performance results for 3Q-2024 and foreign fund flows. The US economic data that warrant close monitoring include September Retail Sales, Industrial Production, Housing Starts, plus Weekly Jobless Claims. Close attention must also be paid to the upcoming ECB meeting, Eurozone’s and Japan’s September CPI, Eurozone’s and Japan’s August Industrial Production, and China’s GDP report for 3Q-2024 and September economic data such as Retail Sales, Fixed Asset Investment and Industrial Production.
