The Baht rose while the SET dropped over-week

คะแนนเฉลี่ย

  • The Thai stock market moved within a narrow range and closed in negative territory ahead of the domestic market holiday.
The SET Index moved within a narrow range during the early to mid-week period. Although selling pressure on electronic component stocks, in line with declines in overseas technology stocks, initially weighed on the market, subsequent buying by foreign investors provided support (following several consecutive weeks of net selling). Energy stocks benefiting from higher global oil prices led the gains, while banking stocks gained supported after the first bank to report its 3Q-2026 performance results posted earnings broadly in line with market expectations.
However, the SET Index subsequently declined ahead of the domestic market's special public holiday. The decline was also in line with other regional bourses amid concerns over the potential US interest rate hikes after US inflation in September came in higher than expected. In addition, there were reports of ships being attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, indicating that tensions in the Middle East remain prolonged.
  • On Thursday, October 15, 2026, the SET closed at 1,573.01 points, down 0.29 percent over-week. The average daily trading value was THB65,020.76 million, up 3.78 percent over-week. The mai closed at 220.72 points, down 0.68 percent over-week.
  • During October 19-23, 2026, KSecurities expects the SET to have support at 1,555 and 1,540 points, but resistance at 1,590 and 1,605 points, respectively. KResearch advises investors to watch key factors, including 3Q-2026 performance results of Thai listed companies, especially banking sector, developments in the Middle East, and foreign capital flows. US economic data that warrants close monitoring includes September Housing Starts, October Manufacturing and Services PMI (Flash), plus weekly jobless claims. Other important overseas economic indicators to monitor include China's GDP report for 3Q-2026, October LPR and September economic data such as Industrial Production, Retail Sales and Fixed Asset Investment, Japan's September CPI, plus October Manufacturing and Services PMI (Flash) of Japan, UK and Eurozone.
