• The Thai stock market closed slightly higher, despite a sharp decline towards the end of the week amid thin trading volume.
The SET Index surged early to midweek, driven mainly by foreign investors’ purchases, led by technology stocks following the global tech recovery trend, and energy stocks benefiting from rising global oil prices due to news that the US intercepted and seized oil tankers off the coast of Venezuela. Additionally, the SET Index received further support midweek in line with gains in international bourses, led by US market, which were buoyed by stronger-than-expected US GDP report for 3Q-2025.
However, the SET Index fell towards the end of the week, pressured by selling in stocks of electronic component manufacturers due to concerns over rising production costs following a surge in copper prices. When coupled with a lack of new catalysts to stimulate the market, trading volume was relatively light, while some international bouses were closed for the Christmas holiday.
