Thai SET rose over-week but pared gains somewhat at the end of the week. The SET closed at 1,672.63 points, up 0.91% over-week. The average daily trading value was THB84,041.18 million, down 13.52% over-week. The mai closed at 682.26 points, up 7.99% over-week.
The SET gradually rose in line with net buying position of foreign investors throughout the week, while stocks that surged the most were in the technology, energy (as supported by rising oil prices), plus banking and finance (before the release of 4Q21 performance results) sectors. In addition, Thai and foreign stock markets were boosted by the speech of Fed Chairman which indicated that the Fed would raise policy rates cautiously so as not to affect the US economy. However, the SET pared gains somewhat the end of the week as investors were worried about the chance of a Fed Funds rate hike as early as March.
