The Thai stock market closed higher than the previous week. The SET dropped early in the week amid negative factors such as a prolonged conflict between Russia and Ukraine, plus China’s imposition of lockdown measures in many cities to curb the spread of COVID-19. However, the SET gradually rose from midweek in line with other regional stock markets, thanks to increased purchased by foreign investors, the fact that the FOMC meeting outcome was as expected by the market, and the clarity regarding the trend of US interest rate hikes. The gains in the Thai bourse were capped at the end of the week as Thailand’s daily COVID-19 cases hit a record high.
On Friday, Mar 18, 2022, the SET closed at 1,678.51 points, up 1.24% over-week. The average daily trading value was THB84,357.68 million, down 26.19% over-week. The mai closed at 621.38 points, up 0.46% over-week.
