The Baht rebounded, although the SET’s gains were capped by concerns over the Omicron variant


    The SET dropped over-week, ending at 1,637.22 points, down 0.27% over-week. The average daily trading value was THB67,481.17 million, down 13.32% over-week. The mai closed at 570.24 points, up 0.01% over-week.
    The SET dropped sharply early in the week in line with other stock markets amid concerns over the outbreak of the Omicron COVID-19 variant before gradually rising later as the market had already priced in such negative factors. In addition, the SET was supported by the government’s economic stimulus measures, plus the purchases of technology stocks amid news reports of mergers and special dividend payments. However, the SET pared gains again at the end of the week after the report of Omicron cases mounted in Thailand.
