The Baht rose while the SET closed at its highest level of the year on the last trading day of 2021


    The SET hit its highest level of 2021 at 1,660.85 points on the last trading day of the year, before ending at 1,657.62 points, up 1.25% WoW. The average daily trading value was THB67,935.51 million, up 0.67% WoW. The mai closed at 582.13 points, up 2.09% WoW.
    The SET moved in a tight range early in the week in line with other stock markets while investors were assessing the situation of the COVID-19 Omicron variant. However, the SET gradually rose during the rest of the week as investors eased some concerns about the COVID-19 situation after preliminary studies in many countries suggested that the Omicron variant could cause less severe illness, which boosted purchases of stocks in many sectors, especially banking, finance and energy. In addition, the SET was supported by foreign investors’ purchases and Window Dressing.
