The Baht rebounded later in the week, while the SET fell sharply on COVID-19 outbreak

  • The SET index was down 10.34% over-week, ending at 1,340.52 points after hitting 1,337 points (the lowest point in nearly four years) at the end of the week. The average daily trading value was THB82,328.33 million, up 36.25% over-week. The mai closed at 261.76 points, down 12.31% over-week.
  • The SET index fluctuated downward throughout the week in line with foreign stock markets amid concerns towards the COVID-19 pandemic, as the number of cases outside China surged while the number of countries with confirmed new cases also rose. Meanwhile, Thailand reported new COVID-19 cases concealing the trip from Japan, which raised more concerns over the outbreak in the country. The sell-offs of institutional investors and proprietary traders also weighed on the SET.​
