The SET index fell early in the week in line with regional stock markets, amid concerns towards the escalating US-China trade war as both countries announced to impose a new round of retaliatory tariffs against each other. However, the SET index gradually recovered during the rest of the week, supported by energy shares amid rising global oil prices, plus optimism towards the US-China trade negotiations after China's Commerce Ministry spokesman said that China and US would resume trade talks in September.
