Although Thailand still holds the largest market share in China, Vietnam is gaining momentum due to its advantages of lower costs and shorter transportation distances. This may cause the export value of Thai fresh durian in 2026 to decline by 1.8 percent. Thailand’s high-potential markets for fresh durian are in Guangdong, Yunnan, and Zhejiang provinces; while in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Thailand may be at a disadvantage compared to Vietnam.
