Satellite data from 2001 to 2020 shows that forest burning in Thailand increased by 240 percent, while open burning in agricultural areas declined by 42 percent.
Mae Hong Son province has been the hardest hit by PM2.5, with an area of nearly 3,000 square kilometers experiencing fires.
April typically reports the highest level of PM2.5 due to burning and wildfires.
