Thai Household Textiles: Vast Export Opportunities Lie Ahead

คะแนนเฉลี่ย

Thailand's exports of household textiles used for decoration of homes, offices and hotels, including such practical items as blankets, carpets, bedding, kitchen towels, dining table cloths and bath towels, etc., have exhibited steady growth over the past six years. In 2003 and 2004, exports of Thai household textiles were worth a total of USD182.2 and 227.5 million, rising considerably by 19.3 and 24.9 percent, year-on-year, respectively. In 2005, exports of Thai household textiles are projected to grow around 15 percent over last year to some USD262 million. This increase can be attributed to upbeat growth in the global economy that will result in higher demand for decorative items for homes and buildings. The fact that made-in-Thailand household textiles have been more recently developed with style, quality, decorative patterns, colors and materials used to better match preferences in different markets has also contributed to growth. Significantly, the government has recently given its support to the industry by designating household textiles as a key target export item and is seriously seeking new markets for these products. Given this, vast potential for exports of Thai household textiles seem to lie ahead.
