Rupiah weakness remains a key pressure for BI to hold its policy rate at 4.75% for a fifth straight month (Business Brief No.4244 Full Ed.)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
  • Bank Indonesia (BI) recently kept its policy rate steady at 4.75 percent for the fifth consecutive month to support the Rupiah amid capital outflows and global financial market volatility. Although inflation has accelerated, it is viewed as a temporary factor.
  • The main constraint on rate cuts is the currency and investor confidence, as concerns raised by MSCI and Moody’s negative outlook continue to pressure capital markets and the exchange rate.
  •  KResearch expects that BI may trim its policy rate, possibly totaling about two cuts to around 4.25 percent in the second half of 2026 if the Rupiah becomes more stable.
