BI holds key rate at 4.75%, pauses easing as it shifts focus to currency stability (Business Brief No.4204 Full Ed.)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
  • Bank Indonesia (BI) kept its policy rate steady at 4.75 percent during its meeting on October 21–22, 2025, in order to assess the transmission effects of its previous three consecutive rate cuts.
  • BI has shifted its focus towards stabilizing the Rupiah, which has depreciated by 2.55 percent since the beginning of the year to IDR 16,585/USD. Meanwhile, September inflation rose to 2.65 percent, the highest in 16 months, though still within the target range. This indicates that while the economy still needs policy support, currency pressures limit additional easing.
  •  KResearch forecasts that BI will slow the pace of rate cuts for the rest of the year to assess the impact of recent economic stimulus measures and prioritize the Rupiah’s stability. Nevertheless, BI is likely to lower rates twice more by the end of the first quarter of 2026.
