KR-ECI remains static for the third consecutive month in March 2024 amid growing concern about energy costs

• The KR-ECI in March 2024 stood at 38.7, remaining static since the beginning of 2024 as households were still concerned about their expenditures and commodity prices in the energy category. Meanwhile, the 3-month Expected KR-ECI fell to the lowest level in seven months because households were still anxious about the rising cost of living in all aspects.  
• Another survey conducted by KResearch showed that the majority of households (68.6 percent) intended to cut energy consumption as it is the best option to save on energy bills amid the rising temperatures and electricity costs. Additionally, most households (80.4 percent) intended to change their spending behavior by placing emphasis on the environment.
• In 2024, we at KResearch hold the view that the recovery in the KR-ECI will remain weak due to several factors, including the slowdown in Thailand’s economic recovery, plus high household debts and financial costs.
