Financial Markets

The Baht and the SET recovered somewhat at the end of the week.

The SET index dropped over-week, ending at 1,638.65 points, down 0.46% over-week. The average daily trading value was THB42,847.36 million, that being 8.45% higher. The mai closed at 364.12 points, decreasing 0.34% over-week.

The SET index dropped sharply early in the week due to foreign, institutional and proprietary investor sell-offs amid concerns about domestic issues and global economic slowdown. However, the SET index gradually recovered somewhat during the rest of the week, supported by expectation toward US-China trade talk.  In addition, foreign investor purchases at the end of the week also boosted the market, as domestic political issue became much clearer.
