The SET index dropped almost throughout the week, ending at 1,590.59 points, down 0.45% over-week. The average daily trading value was THB56,317.65 million, up 23.20% over-week. The mai closed at 318.88 points, down 0.36% over-week.
The SET index rose early in the week on hopes that the US and China could reach the first phase of a trade deal. However, the SET pared gains and dropped during the rest of the week on sell-offs of foreign investors due to the rebalancing of MSCI, and concerns over the US-China trade talks as President Donald Trump signed into law the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act. In addition, fears of Thai economic slowdown also weighed on the SET at the end of the week.
