The SET index rose over-week, ending at 1,575.13 points, up 0.72% over-week. The average daily trading value was THB40,954.92 million, that being 14.38% higher. The mai closed at 357.11 points, increasing 0.19% over-week.
The SET index rose on the first trading day of 2019, then paired gains as the upcoming general election in Thailand might be delayed. Like many other bourses, the Thai stock market was under pressure of the global economic slowdown and impact from the US-China trade dispute. However, the SET index rebounded by the end of the week amid a positive outcome expectation of the US-China trade talks, scheduled for January 7-8.
