Tracking Thai business debt from the credit bureau: non performing loans continue to rise.

คะแนนเฉลี่ย

  • An analysis of the large (anonymized) corporate database from the Credit Bureau indicates that the credit quality of business loans continued to deteriorate during the first half of 2025.
  • Despite lenders' proactive debt restructuring efforts, loans to small and medium‑sized enterprises (SMEs) remain consistently more vulnerable than those to large corporations.
  • The debt quality of many businesses has been affected by the global economic slowdown, weakening purchasing power, and competition from low‑priced imported goods. Sectors experiencing notable strain include accommodation, manufacturing, construction and real estate, and wholesale and retail trade.
  • A key concern is the declining effectiveness of debt restructuring. Reliance on restructuring alone—without real improvements in borrowers' repayment capacity—can only be sustained for a limited period.
