China’s CPI growth in January 2026 slowed, while PPI contracted for the 40th consecutive month (Business Brief No.4241 Full Ed.)

คะแนนเฉลี่ย
  • China’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) in January 2026 slowed to 0.2 percent YoY, down from 0.8 percent YoY in December 2025. This is partly due to a high base effect from the previous year, as the Lunar New Year festival fell in January 2025, whereas this year it occurs in mid-February 2026.
  • The Producer Price Index (PPI) continued to shrink, although the pace of shrinkage eased due to higher global commodity prices. On the contrary, the PPI for consumer goods saw a deeper contraction.
  • China’s inflation in 2026 is projected to increase from the previous year but remain at a low level. Deflationary risks may continue to pressure household spending and China’s economy in 2026.
