China’s September 2025 exports grew at the fastest pace in six months amid renewed US-China trade tensions (Business Brief No.4201 Full Ed.)

  • In September 2025, China’s exports accelerated to 8.3 percent YoY, marking a six-month high. Its imports also gained momentum, rising by 7.4 percent YoY. As a result, China recorded a trade surplus of USD 90 billion for the month. 
  •  In 9M25, China’s shipments performed better than expected. Meanwhile, the renewed US-China trade tensions are not expected to push US tariffs on Chinese imports back above 100 percent, as seen in April 2025. 
  • KResearch anticipates that China’s exports to the US will likely contract further. However, the country’s shipments to other destinations such as ASEAN and the EU will help partially cushion the impact.
