China keeps its 2024 economic growth target unchanged from the previous year at its annual plenary sessions, known as the “Two Sessions” (Business Brief No.4044)


  • At the Two Sessions, China has set its economic growth target for 2024 at 5 percent, which remains unchanged from that in 2023.
  • China will place emphasis on future industries, with support given to the industrial sector, advanced manufacturing sector while accelerating the development of new productive forces.
  • The National People's Congress (NPC) has resolved to approve amendments to organic laws for the first time in four decades to ensure that the Chinese Communist Party has greater integration over the administration of the country by reducing the power of the executive branch.
