The eco-friendly trends, stringent global environmental trade criteria, and green consumer trends have prompted Thailand to adopt low-carbon agriculture, especially in rice production, which emits high amounts of methane.
Thailand’s capacity to produce low-carbon rice is at 4 million tons, while the Vietnamese yield is 1.6x greater at 6.3 million tons.
If the EU enforces low-carbon rice trade criteria, Thailand may be able to sustain such exports due to adequate production.
